Need Time to Slow Down? A 14-Day Panchakarma Stay in Kollam
The bags are unpacked. The photographs are on your phone. Tomorrow, work starts again.
You had a break. You went somewhere different. Yet you are already thinking about the messages waiting for you, the work left unfinished and everything the coming week needs.
Perhaps the holiday was enjoyable. Perhaps it was also busy.
When you have been running on empty for a while, it is worth asking what you want your time away to make room for. Fewer decisions? Unhurried meals? A day with enough space to rest without immediately moving to the next activity?
This is the starting point for exploring Lifed’s 14-day Ayurvedic Panchakarma program in Kollam, Kerala.
A research story about the feeling after a holiday
Researchers have asked a familiar question: do we recover when we go on vacation, and what happens when we return to work?
In a 2009 review, Jessica de Bloom and her colleagues brought together seven studies. They found that vacations were associated with better health and wellbeing, but the improvements tended to fade after work resumed. The review also found too little research to explain which holiday activities mattered most. PubMed
It is a small, older evidence base, and it studied vacations, not Panchakarma. It does not establish that an Ayurvedic stay creates longer-lasting benefits or that fourteen days is the ideal length.
Still, it gives us something useful to think about. Alongside choosing where to go, we can consider what kind of day we want to experience there, and what we might make room for once we return.
At Lifed, we start with that everyday need: time to slow down and pay attention to your routine.

What is the 14-day Panchakarma program in Kollam?
This residential program starts with an Ayurvedic health and suitability assessment. Practices are selected after consultation rather than given to everyone in the same sequence.
The stay may include Abhyanga, Swedana, Kizhi, Sirodhara and Nasya, alongside yoga, meditation, meals and rest. Classical Panchakarma procedures are considered only when the Ayurvedic team finds them suitable.
The program is designed to support a steadier rhythm around eating, moving and resting. In its dedicated Ayurvedic setting in Kollam, the practice remains central to the experience.
This program was co-created by Lifed with the HealthMate Aswanimadom. LIFED
What could a slower day make space for?
The listed daily rhythm includes gentle morning yoga, scheduled Ayurvedic sessions, meals, quiet time and an evening wind-down.
For someone whose ordinary day is crowded, there may be value in considering that space itself. Time to finish a meal. Time to notice how a day feels when fewer things compete for attention. Time to decide which parts of your usual routine you would like to approach differently.
Those are possibilities to explore, rather than changes anyone can promise for you.
What should I know before choosing Panchakarma?
Panchakarma belongs to traditional Ayurvedic practice. Tradition and scientific evidence should be discussed honestly. The US National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health notes that strong clinical research on many Ayurvedic approaches remains limited. NCCIH
Share your medical history and current medicines with the practitioners. If you have a health condition, discuss participation with your usual healthcare professional as well. NCCIH
Choose this experience because the practice, setting and pace fit what you are looking for. Ask questions until you understand what is being offered and whether it is suitable for you.
