How Much Does a Wellness Retreat in Kerala Cost?

How Much Does a Wellness Retreat in Kerala Cost?

Quick answer: In Kerala, a single traditional wellness session usually costs a few thousand rupees, a multi-session day program around ₹5,000 to ₹20,000, a 2 to 7 day residential stay roughly ₹28,500 to ₹1,80,000, and a 14-day Panchakarma program ₹1,68,000 (plus accommodation) to ₹3,60,000. Prices on Lifed include applicable taxes. The biggest price drivers are length, room type, how many therapies are included, the host's expertise and whether transfers are covered.

Kerala wellness prices are hard to compare because two programs with similar headlines can include very different things. One "7-day Ayurveda retreat" includes a private heritage room, daily physician consultations, all meals and an airport pickup. Another includes a shared room, two meals a day and a short list of therapies. Both are honest. They are just different products.

This guide uses the real prices of programs currently live on Lifed so you can see what each format actually costs, then shows you how to compare any Kerala retreat line by line.

For context, some established Kerala Ayurveda resorts publish all-inclusive rates of around ₹42,000 a night for a single guest (for example, Kairali's 2025/26 INR price list). Global retreat listing sites show Kerala Ayurvedic retreats from roughly US$125 to several thousand dollars.

What changes the price of a Kerala wellness retreat

  1. Length. More days means more meals, more nights and more therapist time.
  2. Room type and setting. Heritage bungalows near the beach, private suites and riverside villas cost more than shared rooms. Several Lifed programs offer more than one room package.
  3. How much is physician-led. Programs with daily consultations, a personalised Ayurvedic plan and procedures selected by a physician cost more than a fixed menu of massages.
  4. Therapist hours per day. Count the hours of bodywork or guided sessions, not just the number of items on the list.
  5. Group size. Small groups, such as a maximum of 4 to 6 guests, usually cost more per person than groups of 10 to 15.
  6. Transfers. Airport pickup from Kochi is included on some Fort Kochi stays. Wayanad and Kollam programs often ask you to arrange your own transfer.
  7. Season. Many Kerala properties charge more in the December to February peak.

Day programs vs residential stays

A day program is the lowest-cost way to experience real Kerala practice. You pay only for the sessions and use your own accommodation. They suit Kerala residents, people already travelling in Kochi or Thrissur, and anyone who wants to try a practice before committing to a full stay.

A residential program costs more because the whole day is designed for you: room, meals, therapies and quiet time. If you would otherwise pay for a hotel and restaurants anyway, compare the residential price against that total, not against the day program alone.

Ayurveda, Panchakarma and yoga: how prices differ

  • Yoga is usually the most affordable. Day series in Kochi start around ₹6,250 to ₹15,000, and residential yoga programs cost more because of accommodation.
  • General Ayurvedic stays of 5 to 7 days on Lifed currently run from about ₹48,000 to ₹1,80,000, driven mostly by setting and how much physician time is included.
  • Panchakarma is the most expensive format because it is long (usually 14 days or more) and physician-led.
  • Kalaripayattu day programs run from ₹6,250 for a single bodywork session to ₹18,000 for a 5-day program; a 7-day residential Kalari and yoga program costs ₹70,250, and a 28-day residential immersion costs ₹89,250, which works out at the lowest daily cost of any residential program on Lifed.

Paying from outside India

Prices on Lifed are shown in Indian rupees. Lifed accepts UPI, credit and debit cards, net banking, supported wallets and eligible international cards. If you pay in another currency, the conversion rate applied by Lifed's payment partner is shown before you confirm. Your own bank may still charge a foreign transaction fee, so check with them. Your booking is confirmed only when Lifed sends a booking confirmation.

How cancellation affects the real cost

A cheaper program with strict cancellation terms can cost more if your plans change. Every Lifed program shows its cancellation tier before you pay:

Residential tier30+ days before15 to 29 days7 to 14 daysUnder 7 days
Flexible100%100%50%0%
Standard100%50%25%0%
Strict50%25%0%0%

Whatever the tier, cancelling within 24 hours of booking gives a full refund when the program starts more than 14 days later. If the host or Lifed cancels, you get 100% back, plus Lifed credit of 10% of the booking (up to ₹5,000) when that happens within 14 days of a residential start (Lifed refund policy). Costs you book elsewhere, like flights and visas, are not refundable through Lifed.

Is a cheaper retreat worse?

Not necessarily. A ₹9,000-a-day program in a riverside villa with shared rooms can suit you better than a ₹25,000-a-day heritage stay if what you want is quiet and routine. Compare programs on four things: what the time is designed for, who leads it, how many hours of guided practice or therapy you get each day, and what is included. Price only makes sense after those.
